What is Dialect?

A dialect is a regional variety of a language with its own vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar, distinct enough that speakers immediately recognise where a person is from.

Telugu is not one spoken standard. Telangana, Rayalaseema, coastal Andhra, the Godavari districts and North Andhra differ in address terms, particles and everyday words — and Hyderabad adds Urdu contact on top.

Why it matters for Indian calling. This is the difference between an agent that sounds local and one that sounds like a call centre in another state. It is audible in the first sentence, before any content is delivered.
