What is TRAI regulations?

TRAI regulations are the rules issued by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India governing commercial calls and messages, including registration, consent, origination and complaint handling.

The framework separates promotional from transactional and service communication, and enforcement operates on the originating numbers themselves — which can be disconnected.

Why it matters for Indian calling. The consequence that hurts is not the fine, it is losing the numbers you call from. Treat compliance as an operating requirement, not paperwork.
